11 Jan

DSC03177A young-vine blend of Nebbiolo grapes from vineyards and growers in the Produttori del Barbaresco consortium. Agricola Brandini Barolo, 2007, Piemonte, Italy

DSC03023Barolo, in Italy’s Piemonte region, is famous for elegant, expressive, dry red wines made from the Nebbiolo grape. Brandini’s shows bright floral and fruit aromas with subtle hints of licorice and mint. Three years in Slavonian oak have nicely matured this relatively young Barolo, and the vibrant palate shows well-integrated tannins. Pair with rich, earthy mushroom risotto. $47
