Louis SIPP “Nature’S Riesling,” 2008, Alsace, France

15 Oct

029ORGANIC. This Riesling is attractive, amiable and quite talkative. Brisk, fruity, well-balanced and dry, after the Alsatian fashion—don’t fear the Riesling, people. Drink it with rich, spicy fare, like Cajun-style shrimp étouffée over rice with crusty garlic bread. $25

Hugel “Cuvée Les Amours” Pinot Blanc, 2009, Alsace, France

15 Oct

028The bouquet is fruit-driven but restrained, with fine, open aromas of white peach, lime blossom, spring flowers, pistachio and fresh moss. The palate is wonderfully refreshing. Great with roasted pepper and goat cheese crostini. $16

Allimant-Laugner Gewürztraminer, 2011, Alsace, France

027Say it with us: guh-VOORTS-truh-MEE-ner. Intense and rich, this off-dry bottling shows spicy floral aromas which introduce generous fruit and texture. An excellent aperitif that would pair well with strong cheeses or spicy Asian fare. $22
