Straffe Hendrik Bruges Tripel Ale, Belgium, 9.0% ABV

16 Aug

DSCN1945-001An unsung gem of a Belgian Tripel! Yeasty fruit dominates the palate, but to get there you’ve got to conquer the huge, foamy white head that shows amazing presence and persistence. There’s a touch of sweetness from the amount of sugar you have to ferment to reach 9% ABV, but the spicy notes of the wheaty, golden brew balance everything out nicely. Gorgeous stuff, and a necessary stop for any fan of the style who’s more familiar with names like Chimay and Maredsous. 750ml. $13

OMG!!! So few people know about this beer. We toured the brewery in Bruges and promptly decided it was one of our favorite in Belgium. Thank you for offering it. I will be in soon.
